Well, this is where it all started back in 1992, when Roger Monkhouse decided to run a comedy club in Hunter's Bar.

All these years down the line, we're still here making folk laugh once a month on a Thursday. The tiny room behind the Lescar has seen the biggest acts in the country from time to time, like Peter Kay, Jimmy Carr, Dara O Briain, Johnny Vegas and Al Murray. British Comedian of the Year comes to The Lescar - 8th October

The next Last Laugh night at The Lescar is the Sheffield heats of British Comedian of the Year, hosted by Tom Douglas.

Comedians from across the circuit will take turns on one of Sheffield’s best loved comedy stages, each trying to earn a place in the next round. There’ll be a lot of acts to see, a lot of different styles of comedy, and the lovely unpredictability you get when everyone knows their set really matters.

The eventual winner takes home £10,001 — the biggest cash prize in UK comedy. But it all starts in rooms like ours, where a few minutes at the microphone can change everything.

Tom Douglas will be your host for the night, introducing the acts and keeping things moving. Whether you’re the sort of person who loves spotting a comic before they break through, or you just fancy a packed night of stand-up at The Lescar, this should be a belter.
